The Motto of National Service Scheme is NOT ME BUT YOU.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affiars & Sports. In India, the idea of involving students in the task of national service dates back to the times of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation. The central theme which he tried to impress upon his student audience time and again, was that they should always keep before them, their social responsibility. The Scheme was launched in 1969.

Activities done under NSS
Objectives
- Understand the community in which they work.
- Understand themselves in relation to their community.
- Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving.
- Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
- Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problem.
- Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities.
- Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
- Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes.
- Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and practise national integration and social harmony.
NSS has been launched in the college, since the session 2004-05, Aimed at developing student’s personality through community service. NSS is voluntary association of young people in colleges and Universities working for campus-community linkage. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service.
Under NSS, the college has one unit of 100 students and organize two one day NSS camps and one seven day NSS camp every year.
